Update on Kabrina

Spring is in the air!  

Unfortunately I have come down with a bad cold and have been zapped of my energy the past couple days.  The Home Remodel has been put on hold for a bit.  I can't complain knowing that Sweet Kabrina is confined to a hospital room for the next few months.  She won't get to feel the sun on her face or breathe in the scent of blooming flowers, or hear the birdies singing.  

Her transplant day was Friday March 9th and she is doing well.  She has had a good appetite and her energy is up, despite the side effect of very sensitive itchy skin.  I am thankful that I have some time on my hands these days and am able to organize efforts to bless her and her mom Karen during this time.  

Kabrina's surroundings must be kept germ free.  She will need to have the linens, towels, blankets and clothing changed and removed each day.  Her room will also be deep cleaned every day.  As you can imagine with very sensitive skin, the hospital linens and towels are very abrasive.  Her skin is sensitive and can tear easily.  She will need soft towels, soft pillowcases, soft pajamas and some soft lightweight blankets.  Her mom will have the task of removing these each day and getting them laundered.  We need to get them some extras to have on hand!

Kabrina is now also on a special diet.  She has to eat the foods prepared in a certain time frame due to bacterial growth.  Her mom will be bringing in frozen meals and preparing them for her in her room.  As you can imagine meals for both she and her mom can get costly - so gift cards to Trader Joes, Ralphs or Vons Stores would help greatly.  Gas Gift Cards to Arco or Shell will also help with the trips to and from the Hospital to do the laundry.

Being a Mom, her mom has focused on Kabrina for a very long time, putting her needs aside.  I talked with Karen and found out that she could use some things too.
